With a career spanning over four decades, Dr. Hendrickson has dedicated his life to understanding and improving mental health care while navigating the complexities of the legal system.
Back in the early days of his academic career, the doctor earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University in 1991, following an illustrious trajectory that includes a J.D. from Western State University College of Law and an M.A. in Psychology from Pepperdine University. His academic foundation began with a B.S. in Chemistry from North Dakota State University, showcasing his diverse interests and expertise.
With 31 years of legal practice in California, Dr. Hendrickson simultaneously pursued his passion for psychology, working part-time in a private clinical practice dedicated to serving individuals with developmental disabilities. His commitment to mental health continued after his retirement from law in 2004, during which he served as a contract psychologist with the California Department of Corrections for two years.
Since January 2006, Dr. Hendrickson has been a forensic evaluator with the Center for Forensic Services at Western State Hospital and the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. His role in these organizations underscores his commitment to applying psychological principles within the legal framework, particularly in forensic settings. He also served as the Director of the WSH Postdoctoral Fellowship Committee from 2010 to 2018, mentoring the next generation of psychologists.
At Antioch University Seattle, he teaches a variety of courses, including forensic psychology, ethics, intelligence, and treatment and assessment methodologies. His role as a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Washington’s School of Medicine further emphasizes his dedication to education and his expertise in the intersection of law and psychology.
