Wyckoff Heights Medical Center proudly announces that Dr. Yip, a double board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology, is making significant contributions to the field of rheumatology as the Head of the Rheumatology Department and Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency program. Dr. Yip completed his Rheumatology fellowship at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) / New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell and his Internal Medicine residency at New York University (NYU) / Bellevue. He began his medical journey in the UK, where he finished the highly competitive North Central Thames London Foundation residency program. His diverse training background equips him with a unique perspective on patient care and medical education.
With a passion for teaching, quality improvement, and research, Dr. Yip has garnered numerous awards and recognition for his work. Dr. Yip’s research interests are particularly focused on the implications of asymptomatic hyperuricemia and gout in metabolic diseases, as well as investigating lupus and its connection to avascular necrosis in the African American population through APOL1. Currently, he is exploring how glucocorticoid (steroid) use impacts the daily lives of rheumatic patients, contributing vital insights to the field.
As an active member of the OMERACT initiative—an international network dedicated to enhancing rheumatological research—Dr. Yip collaborates with top professionals worldwide. He recently contributed to the development of new guidelines for total hip and knee surgeries for osteoarthritis in partnership with the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS).
Dr. Yip graduated in the top quartile of his class at University College London Medical School, earning nine awards and commendations. His commitment to compassionate patient care was recognized with his induction into the Gold Humanism Honor Society.
