Prior to his current endeavors, Dr. Funai served as the Chief Operating Officer at the University of South Florida from 2014 until 2018, and as a Professor at Yale School of Medicine from 2002 until 2011.
A member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Gynecologic and Obstetric Society, he has experience creating, growing, and optimizing high-performing physician practices and networks. After earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1988, Dr. Funai went on to obtain his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1992. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Lenox Hill Hospital in 1996, followed by his fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at the New York University School of Medicine in 1998.
Following his training, the doctor became board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as maternal and fetal medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
