Edward S. Azar, DPM, MFS, a Podiatrist with Azar Foot & Ankle Specialist
Get to know Podiatrist Dr. Edward S. Azar, who serves patients in Montclair, Riverside, and Moreno Valley, California.
Having been practicing in the Inland Empire & Greater Los Angeles area as a podiatric foot & ankle surgeon specialist since July of 2016, Dr. Azar is the Founder of Azar Foot & Ankle Specialist. He can be found in the Clinica Medica Familiar Plaza’s in each location in Montclair, Riverside, and Moreno Valley, California.
He describes himself as a compassionate, energetic, and out-going doctor with an interest in treating the foot and ankle, with emphasis on the importance of patient care and improving the quality of daily activity and life. At a very young age, he was exposed to a well-rounded healthcare environment: he has experienced key role life decisions of a best friend on dialysis, a diabetic grandfather with several surgical toes amputated, and a brave grandmother who had two ankle fractures and leg fractures while growing up that required surgical intervention, as well as his own foot problems.
“Podiatry is a unique path of medicine that in every treatment it affects whether patients may place weight on their foot or not which can change the whole aspect of their lives; it is similar to a mechanic that needs to change a tire on a car that is still in motion” expressed the doctor.
Originally from San Francisco, born and raised, Dr. Azar is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrative Biology. He completed a Master’s degree in Forensic Sciences at National University in San Diego, and graduated with his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2012.
During his graduate school years, he used to travel from SF to IE to visit his wife as she was completing her degree in Southern California. They then both moved to the East coast, where he completed his three-year surgical residency training in Brooklyn, New York, having achieved “Best Surgery Award in 2015-2016” at his residency program.
After the birth of his eldest son and the completion of his residency, Dr. Azar and his wife decided to return back to California and practice in the area that they both fell in love with. They originally moved to Montclair and have been attending church at Bethany of Montclair since.
They fell in love with the community and the people; during the first 3 years since they moved back to California, Dr. Azar became an associate of Dr. Tepper’s office Family Foot & Ankle Center and Kaiser San Bernardino County Group, serving the Inland Empire as far North as High Desert, Redlands to the East, and Ontario to the South. As his family grew with a daughter and another son, so did his ambition and the desire to help his community more.
As of July of 2019, Dr. Azar decided to open up his own office in Montclair, near Montclair Hospital, and to perform foot & ankle surgeries at Casa Colina, San Antonio Regional Medical Center, Kindred, and Montclair Hospital.
“I have trained and witnessed the busy streets of New York where the majority of patients primarily use public transportation and are on their feet constantly. Our lives are centered on movement and continuous walking. Standing environments and not being able to walk and perform just our daily activities and routine can not only be frustrating, but can also depreciate our quality of life. ‘If we don’t use it, we do lose it.’ I have witnessed the destruction from just limited activity in my own family and my own life and I chose to prevent that as much as possible in all my patients. We must keep motion and strength in all parts of our body” stated Dr. Azar.
Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the California Podiatric Medical Association, the American Podiatric Medical Association, and the Inland Podiatry Society.
