Dr. Muss, one of approximately 20 female adult cardiologists in private solo practice in New York City, is a strong advocate of education for a healthy heart. It turns out that 90% of the “primary care” patients are cardiac with hypertension, high cholesterol, and are either overweight or smoke.

Having been in practice for over three decades, Dr. Muss holds the teaching appointment of Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. She is also an Assistant Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, an Associate Attending Physician at MT Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, and a Cardiac Consultant at Hospital for Special Surgery.

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her medical degree from New York Medical College in 1968. She then went on to complete her internship:  6 months  internal medicine and 6 months Pediatrics and was accepted to a pediatric neurology residency program at Boston City hospital. ; However, Dr Muss  during the pediatric component of her internship.spent all her spare  time in the adult ER, In  May,  at the end of her the  pediatrics portion of her internship, Dr> Muss realized that research was not for her but rather clinical emergency medicine. Thus, Dr Muss,  changed her direction to adult cardiology…  Mount Sinai Beth Israel created a residency spot for her in adult medicine. Subsequently, Dr Muss had a  fellowship in cardiology at the Manhattan VA for one year, and two years of fellowship training in cardiology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Cornell University Medical College.

Passionate about her profession, Dr. Muss is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In addition to having received the title of Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC), she is a member of the New York Cardiological Society, the American College of Physicians, the Medical Society of the State of New York, and the New York County Medical Society.

The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
