Elizabeth DeCosmo, a Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner, is making significant strides in oncology patient care as the Senior Manager for Advanced Practice Providers at the AdventHealth Cancer Institute Infusion Centers in Orlando, Florida. With a career spanning over four decades, Elizabeth combines her clinical expertise and leadership skills to enhance patient outcomes and promote a culture of compassion and innovation.
In her pivotal role, Elizabeth leads a dedicated team of advanced practice providers, all committed to delivering exceptional care to patients navigating the complexities of cancer treatment. Her extensive background in oncology nursing and symptom management equips her with the knowledge and skills necessary to guide her team in providing holistic and personalized care to each patient. “Our mission is rooted in the continual pursuit of excellence in cancer care,” Elizabeth states. “I am incredibly proud of my team’s commitment to advancing patient outcomes while fostering an environment that prioritizes compassion and innovative practices.”
Elizabeth’s journey in nursing began as an LPN and soon followed an Associate Degree in Nursing from Kent State University in Ohio. After transplanting to Florida, she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University in 1998, where she was awarded Outstanding Weekend Studies student upon graduation. This was followed by a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Florida in 2002, graduating from the Adult Health NP track with a Focus in Oncology.
Elizabeth’s dedication to the field is further exemplified by her active involvement in professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology – Florida Chapter, the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and the Florida Nurse Practitioner Network (FNPN). Through the FNPN, she is a member of their APP Director group dedicated to advancing practice, education, advocacy, and leadership for Florida’s nurse practitioners to enhance community health.
Elizabeth credits her success over the years to the unwavering support of those around her, to the deep passion her patients ignite within her to keep learning and growing, and the meaningful opportunity to teach and mentor the next generation of nurses and nurse practitioners. She believes that collaboration, continuous education, and giving back are at the heart of a fulfilling and impactful career.
