Pertaining to her educational pursuits, Dr. Mellow received her Undergraduate Degree from Princeton University in 1975 and her Medical Degree from Weill Cornell Medical College, Cornell University in 1980. She then went on to complete her residency in internal medicine at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill-Cornell Medical Center in 1983. 

Thereafter, she completed a fellowship in critical care medicine with the National Institutes of Health in 1986, and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1989. 

As a testament of her continued education, the doctor is board certified in cardiovascular disease (1989) and in internal medicine (1983) by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Dedicated to her field, Dr. Mellow remains an active member of the American Heart Association and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
