Dr. Jonczak is a board-certified, fellowship-trained medical oncologist specializing in sarcoma and connective tissue medical oncology. Following her training, Dr. Jonczak attained board certification in internal medicine and medical oncology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The American Board of Internal Medicine is a 501 nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing internal medicine and its subspecialties.
According to the National Cancer Institute, oncology is “a branch of medicine that specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. It includes medical oncology (the use of chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and other drugs to treat cancer), radiation oncology (the use of radiation therapy to treat cancer), and surgical oncology (the use of surgery and other procedures to treat cancer).”
