Her approach includes assessing nutritional deficiencies, assessing areas of infection and decay, assessing toxic materials in the mouth, assessing functional abnormalities (TMJ and sleep apnea), improving digestion, restoring teeth with mercury-free biomimetic dentistry, restoring teeth with biocompatible biological restorations, supporting the body with natural treatments, like ozone, laser biomodulation, and light therapy,
Eating whole foods that are free of processed and refined materials is the first step to oral health.
Processed and refined foods tax the digestive system, which in turn negatively affects every other organ in the body. When digestion is poor, the mouth becomes acidic, severely compromising oral health. Eating foods that are free of genetically modified organisms is also important to one’s health and longevity. We are, literally, what we eat!
The types of foods eaten on a regular basis have a direct effect on oral health. If carbohydrates are not balanced with proteins, for example, the blood sugar will spike and plummet, over stressing the body, leading to insulin resistance and adrenal fatigue, which in turn lead to poor digestion and an acidic oral environment. We routinely provide customized nutritional guidance to our patients
Mercury is toxic. With the advent of strong and biocompatible ceramic materials, there is no reason to use mercury fillings. We also safely remove amalgam fillings (which are 50% mercury) to prevent negative digestive interactions.
If infection is swallowed on a regular basis, it can disrupt the proper digestive process. Infected teeth also stress the body. One of the first courses of action cancer centers take when treating their patients is to clean up the mouth. Physicians understand that if the mouth is toxic and infected, the body cannot heal.
Essential oils are not only effective for relaxation but certain oils can be used as an oral rinse to inhibit plaque formation and improve oral health. Some essential oils have therapeutic effects that promote tissue healing. Dr Emma and the team use DoTerra essential oils.
Dr Emma believes in whole health optimization, and your mouth being the gateway to the rest of your body. Teeth originate from the same tissues which form your central nervous system.
Treating the oral cavity as though it were separate from the rest of the body is inherently flawed and ultimately leads to compromised health. Our functional biological approach to dental medicine considers the whole health of each patient.
The core philosophy at Dr Emma’s Integrative Wellness Center is to redefine your dental experience, making it personalized and positive.
Dr Emma wants patients to embrace their oral health and to understand that the focus is fully centralized around their goals. We also understand that many people have challenging emotions around past dental experiences. Our New Patient Experience process helps to acknowledge these feelings and move beyond them.We welcome all people who are seeking to achieve their best levels of systemic health.
Dr Emma’s Integrative Wellness Center is committed to the implementation of minimally-invasive technologies, as well as scientific, biological and holistic principles to improve the overall health of each patient. The early diagnosis of dental problems can shed light on other health concerns before they advance. Many of the products and services you have available to you are influenced by our natural and integrative approach.
Continuing our education in all types of functional medicine is an essential part of how our team provides the highest level of service, care and experience. Our goal is to redefine the stereotypes of dentistry to one that is exceptionally positive and enjoyable.
Our team strives to increase your personal oral health knowledge-giving you a better understanding of the exceptionally high quality of care we provide, but also to give you a sense of warmth and delight with every interaction we have. We are lifelong relationship builders, and strive to build a “mutual affection society” between us and all of the people we are fortunate to have trust us with their smiles
At Dr Emma’s Integrative Center, we know there is more to dental health than just brushing and flossing. We understand that there are common lifestyle problems and ailments that can be fixed with Dental Functional Treatment. We offer services that treat more than just cavities, with a holistic health approach through functional treatment.
Our goal is to bring you world-class preventative and functional treatment. Functional dentistry uses the principles of functional medicine to address the root cause of diseases of the mouth, not simply treat them.
It means we take into account your whole body when looking after your mouth. Dental diseases provide a measurable and important sign for how the rest of your body is doing.
Issues that appear alongside dental diseases are: Snoring, Tiredness and bad sleep, Jaw pain, Neck and back pain, Headaches Migraines, Swollen Tonsils and Adenoids, Digestive Gut Issues, Auto-immune conditions, Type II Diabetes, and Heart Disease.
Your teeth are the key to both healing and finding out what causes any of these conditions.
Bodily inflammation first shows up in the mouth and is now attributed to nearly every chronic disease seen by medical professionals.
We offer fluoride-free, metal-free biomimetic dentistry, but our real offer to you is your long term health. Never ignore any condition that can start in the mouth.
Functional Dentistry can help you!
Today it’s difficult to keep up with dietary trends. From low-fat to low-carb to paleo to vegetarianism, people now understand that food is their key to health.
But what if diet guidelines were missing something all along? Your teeth hold the key as to what to eat for whole body health.
Tooth decay is known as a sugar caused condition. Today we’ve moved forward to see the link between sugar and weight gain, type-II diabetes and heart disease. We’ve thrown out the idea that fat causes heart attacks and see that sugar drives inflammation based diseases.
Dentists have been recommending to cut sugars for decades. That’s how powerful the oral-systemic connection is. Your body will show problems in the mouth before it becomes a problem elsewhere!
Dental nutrition allows us to see what the body needs to prevent diseases like tooth decay and gum diseases. It also shows how to guide growth of the jaws in kids and newborns. Today we can prevent braces, if we know how to feed and nourish our kids the right way.
Throughout life these principles guide your health from the tiny bugs in your mouth that drive your digestive system, to the nutrients that build strong bones and an immunity to tooth decay.
Dr Emma will give you the full approach on how to manage your food, teeth, and entire body.
Today we are moving past a medical model of surgery and medication.
At Dr Emma’s Integrative Wellness Center we are bringing you the most cutting edge way to heal your mouth and body.
Functional medicine is the practice that identifies and addresses the root cause of disease.
Functional dentistry integrates the oral-systemic link to complete the approach. Most importantly, it follows the growth and development of a child.
That means that instead of waiting to see if a child has crooked teeth, we intervene in the causes of crooked teeth.
First of all, It is the Nutrients.
The fat-soluble Vitamins A, D and K2 are critical for bone and teeth development. They also guide the hormones, neural and epigenetic factors in growth. Diets have been based on these nutrients for generations and generations without any crooked teeth or wisdom teeth impactions.
Secondly, it is the Function.
If a child’s jaws are slightly behind where they should be developmentally, they need to compensate. That means breathing, tongue function, swallowing and facial muscles use all guide tooth position. In order to prevent crooked teeth, we need to correct oral posture and breathing for a healthy wide jaw and straight teeth.
These aim to correct the tongue and breathing posture of the mouth to guide growth. When you position the tongue to the roof of the mouth and relax facial muscles for lip closure.
Head and neck pain, migraines, TMJ and jaw pain all indicate a bony and muscular problem. Many people who suffer headaches have a misaligned jaw or bite. In order to reduce chronic pain, we must correct the patient’s oral posture, which in turn affects the spinal posture.
Snoring and Sleep Apnea have serious health consequences. These include heart disease, and chronic brain degenerative diseases like dementia. Your day-time breathing reflects your night time breathing. That means we teach you to breathe through the day, in order to prevent and reverse the spectrum of sleep-disordered breathing!
Remember that even if you don’t have sleep apnea, you can still have a breathing disorder that affects your sleep.
Symptoms include: Teeth grinding, Digestive issues, Tiredness, Anxiety and Depression, and Cold hands and feet.
People deal with different growth and developmental issues in their own individual way. That means one plan doesn’t always work for the next person.
That’s why we aim to look at the whole body and provide a plan for you to solve each and every barrier to health.
In teenagers and adults certain developmental stages have been completed. There are limits to what we can do to the bony structures, however, there are still many benefits from correction of jaw and breathing issues. These may prevent long term chronic diseases like heart attack,Alzheimer’s disease, and dementia.
On a more personal note, Dr. Abramyan currently resides in Glendale with her husband, four kids and their puppy Archie. During her spare time, there are many things that keep her busy. She loves spending time with her family outdoors, hiking in nature, going to Opera House, Symphony and Art Museums. But her greatest joy is cooking, either for two or twenty. Patients are always welcome to exchange recipes, talk about what they cooked and ate, or recommend a new restaurant. Since her parents were immigrants from Europe, dishes of different ethnicities are always interesting especially if they’re very spicy.
