Dr. Gal-Oz is a clinical psychologist who utilizes personalized therapy, recognizing that each patient is a unique individual with his or her own very personal history and issues. Her background in psychology includes both short and long-term therapy and psychological testing at the Inpatient/Acute Care Psychiatric Unit of the San Mateo County Health Center, the Geriatric Primary Care Clinic, the Department of Public Health in San Francisco-Mission Health Integrated Services, San Jose Job Corps-Health Services, the Barbara Gronowski Clinic in Palo Alto, and a private practice in Tel Aviv. She has also served on the Adjunct Clinical Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University, conducting research on binge eating disorder and weight loss. 

On the subject of her educational background, Dr. Gal-Oz earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Tel-Aviv University in Israel, followed by her Master of Science degree from the same educational venue. She also holds a Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology in Palo Alto. 

In order to stay up to date in her field, she remains a member of the American Psychological Association, the Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology, and the Santa Clara County Psychological Association. 

Clinical psychology is a broad branch of psychology that focuses on diagnosing and treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Some of the more common disorders that might be treated include learning disabilities, substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.
