A board-certified and fellowship-trained oculoplastic surgeon, Dr. Black is affiliated with Consultants in Ophthalmic & Facial Plastic Surgery, serving patients in the Southfield and Troy areas. He specializes in cosmetic eyelid, forehead and brow surgery, Botox treatments around the eyes, as well as the surgical management of diseases such as eyelid ptosis (drooping eyelids), eyelid tumors and reconstruction, and lower eyelid malpositions.

Among his credentials, he is a Fellow and board member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), and Fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (FAACS). He is an active member and past President of the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. 

In his professional experience, Dr. Black is co-section head of Oculoplastic Surgery at the Beaumont Eye Institute, Oakland University/William Beaumont Hospital, and Program Director of the Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship at the Detroit Medical Center’s Kresge Eye Institute.

As for his academic appointments, he serves as a Professor within the Department of Ophthalmology at Wayne State University School of Medicine and Oakland University/William Beaumont Hospital School of Medicine.

An enthusiastic researcher, Dr. Black’s research interests include advances in brow and forehead lifting, and botulinum toxin investigations. He lectures nationally and internationally, and has numerous publications.

Oculofacial plastics is a specialized form of surgery that focuses on aesthetic and reconstructive aspects of the face, eyelids, brows, orbital bones, tear duct system, and nose. There are only about 800 U.S. physicians that specialize in this field.
