Dr. Michael Tidwell is a highly experienced surgeon, having been in practice for over three decades. He began his medical career in 1978 after graduating from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in Lincoln. He then completed an internship and then residency at the Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Aurora, Colorado, followed by a fellowship at the University of Miami College of Medicine in Florida. He now serves as Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Miami, Florida.
Dr. Tidwell is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and provides a wide range of orthopedic surgical procedures, as well as musculoskeletal oncology treatments. He is especially renowned, however, as one of Miami’s leading specialists in pediatric orthopedic surgery. Conditions treated by him include pediatric upper and lower extremity injuries including fractures, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, clubfoot, developmental hip dysplasia, limb length difference, congenital and developmental lower extremity deformity, bone and joint infections, orthopaedic management of hemophilic musculoskeletal issues, neck pain, back pain, and non-surgical treatment of scoliosis. Expert procedures undertaken by him include pediatric and adolescent hip reconstruction, orthopedic management of spastic or paralytic deformities in children and a unique management of the orthopedic aspect of bladder exstrophy.
