Education: Jill attended and graduated from the University of Evansville in Indiana and graduated in 2001 with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Wanting to continue her education she attended the Indiana Wesleyan University where she graduated with her Family Nurse Practitioner Certification in 2013.
Experience: Over the course of her career she has been certified in critical care nursing and advanced cardiac life support. Currently she is certified as an advanced practice registered nurse, as a family nurse practitioner, and has an added qualification in headache medicine from the National Headache Foundation. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. To keep current with the new developments in her field Jill maintains a professional membership with the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, The National Headache Foundation, American Headache Society, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and the American Academy of Neurology. In 2004 she was awarded the Intensive Care Unit Preceptor of the Year and in 2005 she was awarded the Baptist Hospital East Employee of the Year, and the Intensive Care Unit Nurse of the Year.
Current Position: She is currently working at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Family Nurse Practitioner: They are registered nurse with specialized educational and clinical training in family practice. Nurse practitioners have a higher degree of training, in both the classroom and clinical setting, than Registered Nurses do, although becoming an RN is a prerequisite. Family Nurse Practitioners in particular are trained to work with both children and adults, most often in the context of a family practice or clinical setting. FNPs work with patients on maintaining health and wellness over the long term with a particular focus on preventative care. Many FNPs also choose to work in underserved populations and communities.
