An established hematologist-oncologist, Dr. Haroun is affiliated with GW Medical Faculty Associates, serving as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Hematology & Oncology at the GW School of Medicine & Health Sciences. His special interests include lung cancer as well as benign and malignant blood disorders. He is also invested in novel therapeutics such as immunotherapy and targeted treatments aimed at improving outcomes for his patients.

Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences, where he served as Chief Resident.

Licensed to practice medicine in the District of Columbia, the doctor attained board certification in hematology, medical oncology, and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In order to remain up to date in his field, he is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Medical Association.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

In his free time, Dr. Haroun enjoys traveling, dining, Wordle, board games, and darts. His favorite place to vacation is Madrid, Spain.
