With a focus on family medication, Fozia is a board-certified family nurse practitioner at Tranquility Woods Addiction Treatment Center.

Located at 171-A Ryan Road in Pasadena, Maryland, Tranquility Woods is a residential alcohol and substance use disorder treatment facility. It offers one of the country’s most unique addiction treatment programs, utilizing holistic treatment methods such as acupuncture, meditation, yoga, and nutrition. Helping individuals move past their addition and lead healthier lives is the primary goal of the facility.

Earning her high school diploma from North Dorchester High School in 1985, Fozia intended on going to medical school and ended up in nursing. She graduated with her Associate’s degree in Nursing in 1991. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Stevenson University in 2008, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing degree (Family Nurse Practitioner Program) from Chamberlain University College of Nursing in 2018.

Having been in practice for over three decades, she has twenty years of experience in medical-surgical / subacute settings (hospital and skill reb) and 12 years of experience in mental health (Sheppard Pratt Health System). She is also a volunteer at Community Health Clinic in Catonsville, providing medical services to the community, including individuals and families who are uninsured free of charge.

Attributing her success to her faith and family, Fozia is motivated at the start of each day by God and her faith. “I care enough about the clients/patients I serve to be there for them everyday, and I am happy to help them in any way I can to make their recovery a positive experience. I try to do this without any judgement/prejudice in regards to their past, race, gender, or ethnicity.”

Continuously advancing her efforts, she is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Maryland Academy of Advanced Practice Clinicians.

A Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) is an advanced practice registered nurse who holds board certification and works autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, to deliver family-focused care. Given the rather broad nature of the “family” patient population focus, FNPs offer a wide range of healthcare services that revolve around the family unit; from health promotion and disease prevention to direct care and counseling across the lifespan.

Happily married, Fozia enjoys reading, sewing, cooking, and walking when she is not working. Her favorite place to vacation is anywhere with her family, and her favorite professional publication is The Journal for Nurse Practitioners. She was born in Pakistan and speaks several languages, including English, Urdu, Punjabi, and Hindi.
