Dr. Tibor Frekko, MD
Born in New York City and raised in Flushing, Long Island, Dr. Frekko came to Washington at the age of 17 to attend Georgetown University and he has been there ever since. After graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree, he completed his medical education at the Georgetown University School of Medicine, and went on to complete his internship and residency at Providence Hospital.
After completing his education, he established his practice in Montgomery Village, where he was the first family physician. Eventually, when his three physician daughters joined the practice, he founded Frekko Primary Care to accommodate the influx. The practice remained in Montgomery Village many years until it moved to its current location in Gaithersburg in 2012.
Recognized as a Life Member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Dr. Frekko is a member of the Montgomery County Medical Society, and the Maryland State Medical Society (MedChi).
A very active Georgetown Alumnus, he served on the Board of Governors for two years. He currently is still on the Board as an Active Senator, and has served on the Medical Alumni Board since 1995. Furthermore, he has active staff privileges at Shady Grove Hospital and courtesy privileges at Suburban Hospital.
Along with his wife, Gertrude, they founded the Parents Association of Georgetown Medical School when their 3 daughters attended the school and were the first Co-Chairs of the association. He also served on the Parent’s Council at Williams College and was Co-Chair with his wife for 2 years.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Frekko received The John Carroll Award, the highest award given to an alumnus by the Board of Governors, in 2005. He also received the Maroon Award for special and outstanding service to Colgate University, and was recognized as a Top Doctor by Washingtonian Magazine, Checkbook Magazine, and Washington Post.
Dr. Kathleen Farrell, MD
Dr. Farrell is a board-certified physician practicing outpatient internal medicine at Frekko Primary Care.
“In the concierge practice, I have more time to educate patients about disease prevention and their individual health issues. When patients have the knowledge and tools, they can make better lifestyle decisions which often leads to better health outcomes” expressed Dr. Farrell.
After completing a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University, she was offered a Pre-IRTA Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. There, she participated in multiple research projects at the National Cancer Institute in the Division of Hematopathology, resulting in three publications. She obtained her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) Honor Society. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine with a special focus on primary care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School.
Just after Residency, Dr. Farrell married a fellow Georgetown School of Medicine graduate, and moved to Rochester, Minnesota for a year, where she worked as an internist at Olmsted Medical Center. She and her family moved back east and began working at Frekko Primary Care.
In her professional experience, she is on staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, and is an active member of the Montgomery County Medical Society, the Maryland State Medical Society, and the Georgetown Clinical Society.
During her time in Maryland, Dr. Farrell has been the recipient of the Top Doc Award by Washingtonian and Consumers’ Checkbook magazines, and has also been chosen as a “Rising Star” in SuperDoctors magazine.
On a more personal note, she enjoys tennis, yoga, reading, hiking, and spending time with her husband and their three children.
Dr. Ann F. Raffo, MD
A prominent internist, Dr. Raffo has been in practice at Frekko Primary Care since 2003. She can also be found on staff at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital.
“I have become increasingly frustrated by the time constraints and requirements that necessitate medical visits with my head staring at the computer. The concierge model allows me to spend more time to explain medical problems, offer choices in treatment, and help patients achieve their best self” expressed the doctor.
Growing up in Darnestown, Maryland, Dr. Raffo attended Holton-Arms School, and graduated from Bowdoin College with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology in 1996. She earned her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2000, and went on to complete her internship and residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital in 2003.
Continuously advancing her efforts, she is an active member of the American College of Physicians, and the Montgomery County Medical Society.
Throughout her illustrious career, Dr. Raffo has been selected several times to the Washingtonian Top Doctors and Washington Checkbook Top Rated Doctor.
On a more personal note, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. Her hobbies include running, tennis, and pilates.
