Graduating with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of South Carolina in 1993, Dr. Moore earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003, where he received the Alumni Association Award for Most Outstanding Second Year Student.
Subsequently, he completed his internship at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in 2004, and went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 2008, serving as Chief Resident in his last year. Finally, he completed his fellowship in sports medicine at the same educational venue in 2009.
In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Continuously advancing his efforts, Dr. Moore is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the Texas Medical Association.
In his professional experience, he serves on the Trauma Committee at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Southwest, as well as the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Texas Health Harris Hospital Southwest.
As for his academic appointments, Dr. Moore is an Associate Professor within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
As a testament to his success, Dr. Moore has been the recipient of the Safe Surgeon Award at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in 2006 and 2008.
On a more personal note, he is a dedicated, single father who is devoted to his daughter and son. He and his family live in Midlothian, Texas. He has coached sports, started a mentoring program for middle schoolers, and is a lifelong athlete, performing resistance training and running to maintain his health and wellness. Having played varsity football for the University of South Carolina, he relates to both young and mature athletes.
