Dr. Newman’s medical career began in 1995 when he earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Developmental Psychology, from the University of New Orleans in Louisiana, with initial training in Neuropsychology from City University of New York. He subsequently attained advanced training in the use and interpretation of EEG and neurofeedback, in disability analysis, in nutrition for mental health, and in hypnotherapy.
Dr. Newman’s expertise has been in the diagnosis of complicated conditions involving neurocognitive decline, and he provides rehabilitation programs in cognition to patients of all ages. He treats many conditions such as: brain injury, stroke, toxic exposure with encephalopathy, autistic spectrum disorder, attention deficit disorder, bipolar disorder, anxiety, depression, agoraphobia and panic disorder, all forms of dementia, Ehler’s-Danlos Syndrome, fibromyalgia, auto-immune diseases and a wide range of learning disabilities. He has also provided expert witness testimony on brain injury extensively in the State of Maryland.
Dr. Newman currently serves as Director of The Neuroscience Team, where he has overseen the introduction of state of the art treatments and interventions that facilitate neurogenesis and synaptogenesis of the brain. He is board certified by the American Board of Disability Analysts and the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance.
