Being a highly-trained neurosurgeon, Dr. Toshkezi helps patients who are suffering from degenerative spine disease, spine trauma, brain tumors, traumatic brain injury, peripheral nerve disease, hydrocephalus, chiari malformations, and chronic pain. I provide immediate care for patients in the emergency room that come with brain or spine trauma, intracranial hemorrhage, or stroke. That is important to save their life in life-threatening situations. Many patients require neurosurgical interventions after trying conservative treatment for their spine problems, and I see them in my office where I discuss the best neurosurgical options treatment with them in order to improve their quality of life. I treat patients with brain tumors, hydrocephalus, and peripheral nerve disease. That means to help treat symptoms related to each disease. Every day I go to work, I see the opportunity, and the responsibility to change someone’s life for the better” expressed Dr. Toshkezi.
In his current capacity, he is also a part of the team of professionals at the Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience. It brings together specialists from all areas of neuroscience to focus on the patient. Jefferson hospitalists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, radiation oncologists, and psychiatrists all work together to provide patients with the best care possible.
A 2000 graduate of the University of Medicine, Tirana in Albania, Dr. Toshkezi relocated to the United States to further his training. He performed his residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University, and his fellowship at Boston Medical Center in New York.
Continuing to work his talent for the benefit of others, he is an active member of the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the French Language Neurosurgery Society, and AO Spine.
Sharing credit for his skill with the advances in neurological medicine, Dr. Toshkezi is optimistic about the future of his chosen career. He is affiliated with Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, Jefferson Bucks Hospital, and Jefferson Methodist Hospital. He also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Sidney Kimmel Medical College.
