Dr. Cyril is an attentive physiatrist, sports medicine specialist, and spine specialist. He serves as an Assistant Attending Physiatrist at the Hospital for Special Surgery in the Department of Physiatry. 

When managing a patient with spine or joint pain, he believes in a holistic approach regardless of the medical condition. After obtaining an accurate diagnosis, he pursues treatments to assist in the natural healing and recovery process for one’s spine or joint problem. This may involve giving the body time and rest, lifestyle modifications for daily activity and exercise, guidance through a physical rehabilitation course, or more aggressive interventions like injection therapies or surgery referrals.

The doctor’s areas of expertise include: rehabilitation planning for musculoskeletal pain and/or injury, neck and back pain, joint pain and injury, nerve pain, injury prevention, sports medicine, tendinopathy, and osteoarthritis. He performs procedures such as noninvasive interventional spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbosacral) procedures under fluoroscopic (x-ray) guidance, noninvasive interventional joint and tendon procedures under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance, platelet-rich Plasma injections, as well as soft tissue and trigger point injections.

Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Cyril serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he is a member of the North American Spine Society, the Spine Interventional Society, and the American Medical Association.

Growing up in Santa Barbara, California, Dr. Cyril completed his medical training at the University of California, Los Angeles School of Medicine. After earning his medical degree, he completed a surgical internship at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, a residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and a fellowship in spine and sports medicine at the prestigious Hospital for Special Surgery.

After training, he started his medical practice in the Beverly Hills and Marina del Rey (Silicon Beach) communities of Southern California. As a solo-practitioner, he grew a successful medical practice. He worked with many of the top physicians and hospitals in the Los Angeles area, treating individuals from the entertainment industry, sports teams, and city workers alike. He primarily held affiliation with the DISC Sports and Spine Center and Cedar-Sinai Medical Center. He also served as Medical Director for Physiatry at Southern California Hospital and Chairman for the Pain Management Team at the Cedars-Sinai: Marina del Rey Hospital location.

Honing his skills, the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation. This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, also known as physiatry and physiatrics, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. For his commitment and contribution to the field, Dr. Cyril has won many prestigious awards, including: Southern California Super Doctors Rising Stars (2019), Southern California Super Doctors (2018-2020), Best Medical Research North American Spine Society (2014), and Award for Clinical Excellence University of Pennsylvania (2012). He has also published many papers in esteemed journals.
