In good standing with a number of professional organizations, Dr. Harris II is an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the Arizona Society of Addiction Medicine, the California Society of Addiction Medicine, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Association of Addiction Medicine, the American Legion, the Military Officers Association of America, and the Arizona State Physicians Association.

Prior to becoming an osteopathic physician, he was not only employed in other areas of the medical field, but also served in the United States Air Force and retired with the rank of Captain.

Addiction medicine is a medical subspecialty that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, evaluation, treatment, and recovery of persons with addiction, of those with substance-related and addictive disorders, and of people who show unhealthy use of substances including alcohol, nicotine, prescription medicine and other illicit and licit drugs.
