In regards to his educational background, Dr. Abate graduated with his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Wanting to further his education, he earned his medical degree from the Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic in 1981. Thereafter, he returned to the United States and completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, followed by his fellowship in cardiology at the University of South Florida.
