Dr. Benecki is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon that recently relocated from Washington to Texas, joining the team at Direct Orthopedic Care in McKinney.
Direct Orthopedic Care (DOC) is a walk-in, immediate access orthopedic clinic. Their team consists of board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons and specialty-trained physician assistants, pain management physicians and pain management specialty-trained physician assistants.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Benecki graduated cum laude with his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Saint Louis University Hospital, and his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at the University of Cincinnati Mercy Hospital Anderson.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
In order to stay up to date in his field, he is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Medical Association.
Dedicating much of his medical career to date serving in the US Navy, Dr. Benecki provided primary care as a Battalion Surgeon with the Marine Corps, and later as an orthopedic surgeon at Naval Station Great Lakes, and finally at Naval Hospital Bremerton, Washington, from where he retired. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 in support of the Marine Corps combat operations.
Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.
Moving from Washington to Texas, Dr. Benecki is excited for the new adventures to be had with his wife and four young children. In particular, the opportunity for fishing, camping, and RV-ing the National Parks together. He also wishes to work on his golf game when time allows.
