The University of Louisville Department of Orthopedic Surgery and UofL Health – Brain & Spine Institute are proud to spotlight Dr. Boden, a dedicated and innovative board-eligible, fellowship-trained spine surgeon. She specializes in delivering high-quality, comprehensive spine care, including primary and revision surgeries across the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. With her extensive training and commitment to excellence, she is poised to make significant contributions to the field of spine surgery.
Before embarking on her professional journey, she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona College in 2014 and went on to receive her medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in 2018. Her residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania further honed her skills, where she was recognized as an inaugural fellow in the prestigious Wharton Penn Orthopedic Leadership Academy.
After residency, Dr. Boden completed a combined orthopedic and neurological spine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, where she trained alongside some of the most renowned spine surgeons in the world. This unique experience equipped her with advanced techniques in both orthopedic and neurosurgical spine surgery, which she continues to integrate into her practice at UofL Health.
As an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, she is committed to educating the next generation of orthopedic surgeons while providing exceptional care to her patients.
Dr. Boden has a keen interest in cervical myelopathy, degenerative spine disease, minimally invasive and complex spine surgery, and spine trauma. She is dedicated to advancing the field through her research, having published numerous peer-reviewed articles and presented at both national and international conferences.
In recognition of her achievements, the doctor has received several prestigious awards, including the Penn Orthopedic Surgery Research Day Award Winner in 2023 and the Outstanding Woman of the Future Award in 2008.
Beyond her academic accolades, she has also made her mark in athletics, holding Guinness World Records for the fastest baseball pitch (female) in 2008 and 2013.
