The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began in 1982 when he earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Colorado in Denver, followed by a fellowship in urologic oncology at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He also performed a fellowship in pain management within the Department of Anesthesiology at Ohio State Pain Control Center.
Recognized for his clinical expertise, Dr. McDowell II’s research has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has authored book chapters regarding urology and anesthesiology. He is also certified as a Patient Safety Officer by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains a member of the American Academy of Pain Management, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.
