Dr. Uribe-Botero is a board certified as a General Practitioner and Pathology Physician with the Academy Institute Of Pathology. Dr. Uribe-Botero graduated with his Medical Degree from the University of Antioquia in Colombia in 1962, giving him over five decades of experience in his field. After completing his Medical Degree he completed his residency with the St. Vincent De Paul University Hospital. He then relocated to the United States where he completed his certification with the Education Commission of Foreign Medical Graduates. Certification by ECFMG is the standard for evaluating the qualifications of these physicians before they enter U.S. graduate medical education (GME), where they provide supervised patient care. ECFMG Certification also is a requirement for IMGs to take Step 3 of the three-step United States Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) and to obtain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States. Dr. Uribe-Botero then completed his training through his Fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Research in Houston, TX.
In 2018 Dr. Uribe-Botero received both the Compassionate Doctor Recognition and the Patients’ Choice Award. To stay up to date in his field, he remains a professional member of the Houston Society of Clinical Pathology, International Academy of Pathology, Harris County Medical Society, and the New York Academy of Sciences.
