Gregory Rauscher received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Connecticut. Thereafter, he received his Medical Degree in 1972 from the SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York. Dr. Rauscher’s post-doctoral experience began with a sub-internship with Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. Following his internship, he completed his general surgery residency in Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York; where he was named chief resident. He then went on to complete his plastic surgery residency at the same center, where he was once again named chief resident. After his residencies, he completed a microsurgical and research hand fellowship with Downstate Medical Center/Kings County Hospital.

Dr. Rauscher holds dual certification in General Surgery by the American College of Surgeons and in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Additionally, he is certified in Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery and in Added Qualification on Surgery of the Hand. He remains a professional member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the American Association for Surgery of the Hand, the International College of Surgeons in Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the New Jersey Plastic Surgery Society, the New York Regional Plastic Surgery Society, and the New York Academy of Medicine.

Currently, Dr. Rauscher has his own private plastic surgery practice in Hackensack, NJ. He is also the Section Chief of Cosmetic Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. Furthermore, he is a Professor in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey – the same University that presented him with the ‘Professor of the Millennium’ award back in 2000. Dr. Rauscher is adored by his patients – one of them even stated “I don’t know many physicians who have given themselves to medicine and to patient care to the extent that you do.”

Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. As a plastic surgeon, one of Dr. Rauscher’s specialities include hand surgery – the field of medicine that deals with problems of the hand, wrist and forearm. When necessary, he is trained to operate and correct any improper issues with modern surgical techniques. One of the most common congenital defects is syndactyly, in which two or more finger are fused together. Other common congenital defects include short, missing or deformed fingers, immobile tendons, and abnormal nerves or blood vessels. In most cases, these defects can be treated surgically and significant improvement can be expected.

Dr. Rauscher has authored several articles for prominent medical journals. He has also authored several chapters in educational texts, focusing on topics such as mid-facelift, endoscopic brow lift, and eyelid surgery techniques. In his spare time, he enjoys playing tennis and skiing.
