Dr. Mercier is a board certified radiologist and nuclear cardiologist who welcomes patients at Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He is the Chief of the Division of Molecular Imaging and Nuclear Medicine at Boston Medical Center and Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at Boston School of Medicine. Dr. Mercier graduated from the MD-PhD program at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York in 1990. After completing his radiology residency in The New York Hospital – Weill Cornell Medical Center in 1995, he conducted a year of radiology research at the National Institute of Health (1996). He then completed a fellowship in PET imaging and nuclear medicine at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (1998). Dr. Mercier completed a Master of Business Administration degree as well as  Master of Applied Statistics degree.

Licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Dr. Mercier is board-certified diagnostic radiology with a certificate of added qualifications in nuclear medicine and nuclear cardiology by the American Board of Radiology. Established in 1934, the American Board of Radiology is a not-for-profit physician-led organization with headquarters in Tucson, Arizona. It oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology and medical physics.

Radiology is the medical discipline that uses medical imaging to diagnose and treat diseases within the body. Nuclear cardiology studies use noninvasive techniques to assess myocardial blood flow, evaluate the pumping function of the heart as well as visualize the size and location of a heart attack. Among the techniques of nuclear cardiology, myocardial perfusion imaging is the most widely used.

Dr. Mercier is a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, American College of Nuclear Medicine, the American Roentgen Ray Society, and the Radiological Society of North America.
