He then completed a fellowship in PET imaging and nuclear medicine at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (1998). Dr. Mercier completed a Master of Business Administration degree as well as Master of Applied Statistics degree.
Licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Dr. Mercier is board-certified diagnostic radiology with a certificate of added qualifications in nuclear medicine and nuclear cardiology by the American Board of Radiology. Established in 1934, the American Board of Radiology is a not-for-profit physician-led organization with headquarters in Tucson, Arizona. It oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology and medical physics.

Nuclear cardiology studies use noninvasive techniques to assess myocardial blood flow, evaluate the pumping function of the heart as well as visualize the size and location of a heart attack.
