Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Harvey J. Kagan, who serves patients in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake Virginia
Dr. Kagan is a practicing pediatrician whose clinical interests include ADHD and learning disorders. He is in practice with Pediatric Specialists – Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters, tending to patients at the offices in Norfolk and Chesapeake, Virginia.
For more than 70 years, the healthcare professionals at Pediatric Specialists have provided the highest standard of pediatric care for patients. A Boston native, Dr. Kagan earned his undergraduate degree from Boston University. He then attended Georgetown University School of Medicine where he graduated with his medical degree in 1974. This was followed by a residency in pediatrics at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, and a clinical fellowship in pulmonary medicine and anesthesiology at Harvard Medical School.
Among the doctor’s community involvement and memberships, he is a member of the Medical Society of Virginia, the American Medical Association, the Norfolk Academy of Medicine, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, Virginia Chapter.
An authority in his field, Dr. Kagan has written and published 10 articles for “Contemporary Pediatrics.” He is also a reviewer for pediatric articles to be published in “Contemporary Pediatrics”, and has appeared on WVEC TV for the CHKD Parenting Segment.
Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. On a more personal note, Dr. Kagan lives in Virginia Beach with wife, Betsy, and has 2 children and 4 grandchildren. His daughter is a clinical psychologist and his son is a professional artist who has exhibited worldwide. In his free time, he enjoys relaxing at the beach with a good book, anything Red Sox, flying a Cessna 172, amateur astronomy, and, of course, Angry Birds.
