He completed his internship at Baptist Medical Center and his residency in internal medicine at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University – Long Island College Hospital in 1988. Finally, he completed his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in 1991.

With almost 40 years of experience in the field, the doctor is board-certified in endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

A Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (FAACE), Dr. Huey is a proud member of many other organizations, including the Endocrine Society, the Chinese American Medical Society, the Chinese American Independent Practice Association, and the American Diabetes Association.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others. 

On a more personal note, aside from English, Dr. Huey speaks Chinese (Cantonese) as well.
