Thereafter, he was a Naval Aviator in Fighter Squadrons 101 and 14 and later a test pilot at the Naval Air Test Center. He retired from the Navy as a Captain in the Medical Corps.
The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began in 1979 when he earned his medical degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He completed his internship and residency at the Naval Regional Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia.
