Dr. Joukova is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). Dr. Joukova earned her medical degree from the First Moscow State Medical University in Moscow, Russia in 1981. She then went to complete her residency in internal medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital. Dr. Joukova also completed the Cardiology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Methodist Hospital, Houston, Texas, and UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas. In 1992 Dr. Joukova was honored with the Molecular Cardiology Fellowship by Merck Foundation.

The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, arrhythmia, and lipid management.
