Isabel Huang, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Texas Southwestern, specializes in pain management for individuals suffering from musculoskeletal injuries, degenerative conditions, hypermobility, and neuropathic pain.

She embarked on her professional path at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, earning her Doctor of Medicine degree. She then enhanced her expertise through a one-year internship in general surgery and a three-year residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the McGovern School of Medicine at UTHealth in Houston, Texas, where she trained at the renowned Texas Institute of Rehabilitation and Research.

At UT Southwestern, Dr. Isabel Huang is a healthcare leader aimed at enhancing the health and well-being of individuals within the hypermobility population. This diverse group encompasses conditions such as hypermobility Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, hypermobility spectrum disorder, and benign joint hypermobility syndrome. “You can still live a full life,” says Dr. Huang, “you just have to understand that your body’s user manual may differ from someone who does not have Ehlers Danlos syndrome.”.  As both a dedicated clinician and researcher, Dr. Huang is committed to the pursuit of improving the vitality of these individuals, striving to bring relief and healing through her clinical expertise and groundbreaking research efforts.

Furthermore, Dr. Huang leverages her integrative medical expertise as a Certified Physician Life Care Planner, and works as a life care planner at Physician Life Care Planners. She conducts thorough assessments and develops comprehensive plans tailored to the ongoing medical needs of individuals recovering from injuries.

A proud member of various professional associations, including the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Dallas County Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Society, Dr. Huang remains committed to advancing the field of pain management and rehabilitation.
