A respected pediatric cardiologist, Dr. Kreutzer currently holds the position of Division Director of Cardiology and Co-Director of the Heart Institute at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She also serves as a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and holds the prestigious Peter and Ada Rossin Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiology.

As the Division Director of Cardiology since 2017, she has played a pivotal role in expanding the quality of care and outcomes at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Her collaborative efforts with the Heart Institute and hospital leadership have elevated the cardiac program to be recognized among the best in the country by U.S. News and World Report.

Dr. Kreutzer’s impressive educational background includes a BS in Science, Physics, and Mathematics from Instituto Normal Superior in Buenos Aires, Argentina, followed by her MD from the University of Buenos Aires Medical School. She completed her clinical fellowship in cardiac pathology at Harvard Medical School-Boston Children’s Hospital, and subsequent internships and residencies in pediatrics at the University of Florida Affiliated Hospitals. 

Furthermore, she pursued a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Harvard Medical School-Boston Children’s Hospital. In recognition of her leadership skills, she completed the Advanced Faculty Leadership Academy at the University of Pittsburgh in 2017.

Board-certified in pediatric cardiology and adult congenital heart disease by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), Dr. Kreutzer is a highly sought-after speaker and has delivered lectures both nationally and internationally. Her knowledge and expertise are evident in her nearly 100 published articles.

In addition, she has a strong commitment to education and has mentored numerous students, residents, fellows, and colleagues from the United States and abroad. She has also served on various academic committees and held editorial positions for esteemed publications such as JACC (Journal of the American College of Cardiology).

Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Kreutzer is a Fellow of both the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI) and the American College of Cardiology (FACC).

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

Among her most notable achievements, Dr. Kreutzer has been the recipient of the Castle Connolly Top Doctor (2020), Best Doctor Award by Pittsburgh Magazine’s “Top Doctors” (2012-2019), Chair’s Distinction Award (2016), Excellence in Teaching Award by Heart Institute, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh (2012), Best Doctors in America® and America’s Best Physicians (2003-2019), University Research Foundation Award (2001), and Mattina Proctor Cardiology Fund Award (1997).
