After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Mississippi and his medical degree from the University of Tennessee School of Medicine, Dr. McGlowan Jr. went on to complete his residency in general surgery at New York University Medical Center. He then served as an Orthopaedic Surgery House Officer and Research Fellow at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center and within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, University at Buffalo. Following this, he completed his fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the University of Massachusetts.
Professionally, he has served as Director of Sports Medicine, Director of Arthroscopy, and Director of Service at Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical Associates. He was also trained by the physicians for the Buffalo Bills (NFL) and Sabres (NHL) from 1997 until 2001.
Going beyond the scope of his specialty, Dr. McGlowan Jr. is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, Alpha Epsilon Delta, Beta Beta Beta, and Sigma Tau Delta.
Additionally, he is board-certified in orthopaedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopaedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopaedic surgeons.
