Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine Dr. James W. Jacobs, currently practices with his private practice. His goal is to manage and anticipate your unique healthcare needs. Dr. Jacobs is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine. Their goal is to be the Nation’s leading public school of medicine, a promise they make to our students and the people of North Carolina. They are proud of our excellent clinical instruction, as well as their research endeavors, which span the most foundational scientific investigations of human biology all the way to innovative clinical trials taking place at the UNC Medical Center.
Dr. Jacobs completed his undergraduate degree from Cedarville University, where he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry and Biology in 1988. Furthering his education he graduated with his Medical Degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1992, giving him over two decades of experience in his field. After obtaining his medical degree he completed his internal medicine residency from the University of North Carolina, where he was named Acting Chief Resident.
Dr. Jacobs is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. To stay up to date in his field, Dr. Jacobs he remains a professional member of the American College of Physicians, North Carolina Medical Society, and the Wake County Medical Society.
Dr. Jacobs and wife Kimmie have served together on a short-term medical mission trip to El Salvador and since 2008 he serves as a board member supporting this ongoing work. The entire Jacobs’ family was able to serve short-term in two orphanages in Beijing, China in May 2008. Subsequently members of the Jacobs clan have served in Kenya, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Red Springs, NC. They are active members in the children’s and youth ministry at Colonial Baptist Church and in the sports ministry where Dr. Jacobs volunteers as a developmental league basketball coach.
