Dr. Tan is a kidney transplant nephrologist. She is currently an Associate Professor of Medicine (Nephrology) at the Stanford University Medical Center. The Stanford University Medical Center is a medical complex which includes Stanford Health Care and Stanford Children’s Health. Dr. Tan received her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 1995. She then went on to complete her internship, residency, and fellowship training with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center – Harvard Medical School. She also completed her Master of Science in Epidemiology and Clinical Research at Stanford University in 2014.

Dr. Tan is board-certified in both internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In 1995, Dr. Tan became a part of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, which is an honor society in the field of medicine.

Dr. Tan is a Fellow of the American Society of Transplantation (FAST). The American Society of Transplantation (AST) is an international organization of over 4,000 transplant professionals dedicated to advancing the field of transplantation through the promotion of research, education, advocacy, organ donation, and service to the community.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys: the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease – from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. As a kidney transplant nephrologist, Dr. Tan’s clinical focus is in kidney transplantation. “In addition to taking care of kidney transplant recipients, I evaluate patients with end stage kidney disease for potential kidney transplantation and I also evaluate healthy individuals who wish to become living kidney donors” as stated by Dr. Tan.
