A 1981 graduate of the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine, Dr. Ertl went on to perform his internship at the University of Southern California. He then completed his residency at St Joseph Hospital, Chicago Naval Regional Medical Center, followed by his fellowship at the University of California, Sacramento.
With over four decades of experience in his field, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
