Throughout her academic career, her academic foundation was laid at the University of Michigan, where she earned a Master’s degree in Social Work in 2021. Building upon this educational cornerstone, she is currently immersed in training for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), with aspirations to further her expertise through training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and somatic practices through dance and body movement. Additionally, her role as a Research Assistant for Trauma-Informed Programs and Practices for Schools (TIPPS) in Ann Arbor, Michigan underscores her commitment to advancing trauma-informed practices. Furthermore, she has published multiple research articles with her research team (outside of the TIPPS team) at the University of Michigan on families with histories of abuse and neglect and COVID-19 in 2023.

In addition, Jasmine’s professional journey has been marked by meaningful internships, including her impactful tenure as a Bachelor’s level intern at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Ottawa County in Holland, MI. She attended Hope College majoring in Psychology and was also involved in the Dance Department, such as Hip Hop Club; her favorite style of dance. To follow dance, she is currently a dance company dancer at a dance studio in Kalamazoo.

Recognized for her academic excellence, her achievements include making the Dean’s List at Hope College and graduating with high honors in her master’s program. She was an executive board member for the Child Welfare Student Association and also worked with child protective services (CPS) on the central registry through the Child and Adolescent Data Lab at the University of Michigan School of Social Work during her studies. A trailblazer in her own right, she is a first-generation Bachelor’s and Master’s student in her family, embodying resilience and determination.

With a passion for teaching, she co-taught a continuing education course at the University of Michigan School of Social Work on resilience alongside her esteemed colleagues from the TIPPS team in 2022, contributing to the cultivation of trauma-informed care practices. She hopes to teach in higher education and continually serve clients later on in her career.
