Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Jason J. Gorscak, who serves patients throughout the State of Florida.

Being a board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Gorscak focuses on comprehensive eye care at Florida Eye Microsurgical Institute, including diagnosing and treating cataract conditions, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. He also specializes in diagnosing and removing both benign and malignant tumors of the eyelids.

With four locations serving the South Florida community, Florida Eye Microsurgical Institute provides patients with the most effective treatments available, blending the latest technological advances with care and integrity. The highly-qualified staff of over 75 professionals offers a full range of comprehensive ophthalmologic care, from routine exams to advanced surgical procedures. 

Associated with several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Gorscak is affiliated with Bethesda Memorial Hospital and Wellington Regional Medical Center.

Originally from Kinnelon, New Jersey, he attended Johns Hopkins and then obtained his medical degree from the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine, where he earned the Alpha Omega Alpha Award. He then completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey before joining Florida Eye in 2008.

Following his training, the doctor became board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, whose mission is to serve the public by improving the quality of ophthalmic practice through a process of certification and Maintenance of Certification that fosters excellence and encourages continual learning. 

Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Gorscak has served as a Research Assistant with the Department of Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, a Research Coordinator with Becton Dickinson in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, and as a Research Assistant at John Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

Outside of the office, Dr. Gorscak spends time enjoying the Florida weather and playing golf, tennis, and motorsports. He is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015, 2016, 2018) and Patients’ Choice Award (2015, 2016, 2018).
