She went on to complete her internship at the Overlook Hospital in 1981, followed by her residency in diagnostic radiology and her fellowship in abdominal imaging at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in 1984 and 1985, respectively.
A Fellow of the American College of Radiology as well as a Fellow of the Society of Breast Imaging, she attained board certification in radiology through the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in 1984. The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.
Professionally, Dr. Weigert is immediate past-chair of the Accreditation Committee for Mammography and a Reviewer for ACR Accreditation in Mammography and Stereotactic Biopsies . She is a member of the Radiological Society of Connecticut, the American Roentgen Ray Society, the Radiological Society of North America, and the American Association of Women Radiologists.
