Warm, caring and down-to-earth, Dr. Haupt is a highly trained podiatrist who, in addition to providing routine foot and ankle care, specializes in complex foot and ankle surgery in both adults and children. He is the Founder and Medical Director of Newport Foot & Ankle Center, Inc. with offices in Newport Beach and Anaheim, California.
Dr Haupt is the founder and Scientific Chair for the OCPMA Advancements on Foot & Ankle Surgery Seminar. This program has brought top notched surgeons and speakers from around the world to further education for local practicing physicians. The event has provided excellent continuing medical education for more than 18 years.
As a most sought-after Orange County podiatrist, Dr. Haupt is honored to offer his patients superb foot and ankle care in a modern facility with comforting amenities, as well as state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technologies so that they have access to the latest advances in the care and keeping of their feet.
With a heart for learning and teaching other providers the cornerstone techniques of this medical field, Dr. Haupt is currently the only podiatrist on the clinical faculty at the University of California, Irvine. He also regularly teaches foot and ankle skills workshops to podiatry health professionals all over the country.
Growing up in Newport Beach, Dr. Haupt earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences with an emphasis in Business Management from the University of California at Irvine in 1990. He furthered his education at the California College of Podiatric Medicine, culminating in the attainment of his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine Degree (DPM) on May 29, 1994. During his time in medical school, he also completed his fourth-year Podiatric Medical School Rotation at the U.S.C. Medical Center-Los Angeles County, spanning from 1990 to 1994.
His medical journey continued with his residency at United Western Medical Center in Santa Ana and Anaheim, California from 1994 until 1996. His residency, labeled PSR-24, was dedicated to podiatric medicine and surgery, specializing in adult and pediatric reconstructive and traumatic foot and ankle surgery, clinical research, clinical medicine, imaging, orthopedics, sports medicine, diabetic foot care, and limb salvage. Dr. Haupt is also the only U.S.-trained podiatric surgeon to undergo a two-week mini-fellowship in Milan, Italy for Advanced Techniques in External Ring Fixation.
With stellar training, experience, and skill, he is double board certified in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS). The ABFAS is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the public interest by promoting excellence in the art and science of podiatric surgery through certification.
Throughout his professional journey, Dr. Haupt has held several noteworthy appointed positions, reflecting his active involvement in the field of podiatric medicine. From 2007 to 2015, he served as a Medical Consultant for the State of California Board of Podiatric Medicine. His dedication to advancing the field is further exemplified through his roles as a Committee Chairman for the CPMA Residency Genesis Task Force from 2007 to 2008 and as a Committee Member for the same task force from 2006 to 2016. He also made valuable contributions as a Committee Member on the House of Delegates Nominating Committee for the CPMA from 2007 to 2008, as well as represented Orange County as the CPMA Western Podiatric Medical Congress Delegate, from 1997 to 2010.
An active participant in several professional memberships that reflect his ongoing commitment to the field of podiatry, Dr. Haupt is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics, the American Podiatric Medical Association, the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons, the California Podiatric Medical Association, and the Orange County Podiatric Medical Association (Board Member).
Most recently, he became a Truelok Master’s Club Member for Ilizarov External Ring Fixation in 2016, highlighting his dedication to mastering advanced techniques in this specific area of podiatry.
In addition, Dr. Haupt is the Founder and Director of Orange County’s only ACFAS Certified Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery Fellowship Training Program, of which there are only 40 in the United States.

His interests outside of medicine include surfing, snowboarding, listening to rock music, and traveling.
