Dr. Kirk is board-certified in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). Surgeons certified by the ABS, known as diplomates, have completed at least 5 years of residency training following medical school, met all ABS training requirements, and successfully completed the ABS examination process. The ABS serves the public and the specialty of surgery by providing leadership in surgical education and practice, by promoting excellence through rigorous evaluation and examination, and by promoting the highest standards for professionalism, lifelong learning, and the continuous certification of surgeons in practice.

Dr. Kirk is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In order to apply for membership, a surgeon typically must be certified by a board member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Dr. Kirk is currently a practicing Vascular Surgeon with Capital Regional Medical Center, a hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. A fully accredited healthcare facility, it has more than 1,100 employees, approximately 500 physicians, and 266 beds. Dr. Kirk graduated from medical school from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. He did his residency with Mount Sinai Beth Israel and his MSUCHM fellowship training with Grand Rapids Medical Education Partners. Furthermore, he has completed additional trainings with Virginia Commonwealth University and York College of Pennsylvania.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, or arteries, veins and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. As a vascular surgeon, Dr. Kirk is trained to evaluate and treat complications and diseases of the circulatory system including arteries, veins, and blood vessels. He may offer a range of surgical and non-surgical treatments, including the removal of plaque from arteries, treatment of varicose veins, and surgery to prevent aneurysms, heart attacks or coronary artery disease, among others.
