Jen Owens, RN, Registered Nurse
Get to know Registered Nurse, Jen Owens, who serves patients in Michigan.
Jen is a registered nurse currently completing her first assignment as a travel nurse. She is working at a critical care hospital where they care for medical/surgical patients to post-operative patients.
Prior to working as a travel nurse, she worked on a Covid-19 unit for over a year. In this role, her responsibilities included hands-on patient care. She would assess her patients and treat them by prioritization. She would give medications, assess vital signs, as well as assess respiratory status, mobility, and more.
To begin her career in nursing, Jen attended Henry Ford College and earned her nursing degree in 2014.
To remain up to date within her field, she maintains a professional membership with the American Nurses Association, the Student Nurse Association, and the Health Occupations Students of America. She also holds certificates in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS – not intended for postnominal use), CPR, and Telemetry.
At the moment, Jen is very interested in Covid-19 research. With the pandemic and having the experience working with Covid-19 patients over the last year, she tries to learn as much as she can about the virus, symptoms, treatment, and residual after the virus.
A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RN’s fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients’ symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.
On a more personal note, Jen is motivated knowing that she might make a difference in someone’s life, not only make a difference in someone’s life, but save someone’s life.
In her spare time, she enjoys watching Hallmark and Lifetime type movies.
