Jennifer is a certified family nurse practitioner currently serving as the Director of Nurse Practitioners at Desoto Family Wellness Center in Southaven, Mississippi. She has almost 10 years of diverse experience in managing individuals across the lifespan with chronic diseases and treating acute medical conditions. Some of her passions include, women, men, and adolescent health, preventive medicine, nutrition and fitness, mental health, and diabetes. She believes a collaborative mind, body, soul, approach is the most effective way to live your best life.
DeSoto Family Wellness Center developed from an idea based on a need in their community for individuals and family members to get the best overall mental and physical care possible. They believe that health includes care of the mind, body, and spirit. They work together with a psychologist and mental health clinicians, who are on site, to provide optimal, efficient, personalized care to help improve every aspect of health care for an individual’s needs.
To begin her career, Jennifer graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Baptist College of Health Sciences in 2008. As a registered nurse, she cared for women with high risk pregnancies, and in labor and delivery. She went on to pursue her family nurse practitioner, and graduated from The University of Memphis in 2012, with a Master of Science in Nursing.
As a testament of her continued education, she is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). She is also an active member of the Sigma Theta Tau, and the Mississippi Nurses Association.
A Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) holds certification and provides continuing and comprehensive healthcare for the individual and family across all ages, genders, diseases, and body systems. FNPs maintain patient records, perform physical exams, order or perform diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, develop treatment plans, as well as treat acute and chronic illnesses, conditions, and injuries that fall under primary care.
On a more personal note, Jennifer is married and has 4 children. She enjoys spending time with her family, friends, and running in her spare time.
