Get to know Family Nurse Practitioner, Jennifer N. McLeod, who serves patients in Hartland, Wisconsin.

Jennifer is a family nurse practitioner with an extensive background in gerontology, emergency medicine, critical care medicine, long-term care, and hospice care. She uses this knowledge to provide a full continuum of care at Hartland Terrace Assisted Living in Hartland, Wisconsin, where she serves as Owner and President. 

“In 2008, Hartland Terrace Assisted Living opened its doors to aid frail elderly in their journey of health and enrichment. It has been a wonderful journey of love and commitment to our residents, their families, and the community. Over the years, we have stood strong in our mission to meet our residents where they are in their journey and enrich them in body, mind, and spirit” as stated by Jennifer. For her contribution and services, she won the Hartland Small Business Excellence Award.

Demonstrating a solid professional background, Jennifer is also a Stroke Certified Registered Nurse, a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner-Adult/Adolescent, a Certified EKG Technician, as well as a Trauma Nursing Core Course Provider.

Growing up in a family with extreme health concerns, she attributes her success to her parents showing her that even during devastating times, one needs to persevere. Her father was ill for most of her life and watching how he was treated and the type of treatments he received gave Jennifer the passion to find better ways to treat patients, both with modern medicine and holistic means. She believes it is vital to treat a patient’s body, mind, and spirit in order to achieve the best outcomes.

After earning her nursing degree from Bryant & Stratton College, she went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, Utah, followed by her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the same educational venue. 

To this day, she remains a member of the American Nurses Association, the Wisconsin Nurses Association, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Emergency Nurses Association, the Wisconsin Assisted Living Association, and the Wisconsin Firefighters Association.

Additionally, she holds certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and Intravenous therapy.

Among her philanthropic endeavours, Jennifer has traveled to Kenya, Africa to provide care to the children living in sponsored schools and their families. She is also a supporter of the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the ALS Chapter of Milwaukee. 

A Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse who works autonomously or in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, to deliver family-focused care. Given the rather broad nature of the “family” patient population focus, FNPs offer a wide range of healthcare services that revolve around the family unit; from health promotion and disease prevention to direct care and counseling across the lifespan.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jennifer’s favorite place to vacation in Italy. She and her husband, Michael, who is a pilot for Delta Airlines, have two wonderful children, Lauren (Dustin) and Jayson.
