Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Jeremy Doak, who serves patients throughout the State of New York.

Dr. Doak is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon practicing at the UBMD Orthopedics & Sports Medicine clinics in Amherst, and Orchard Park, New York. He also performs surgery at the Oishei Children’s Hospital.

As a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Doak’s clinical expertise is the treatment of pediatric orthopaedic trauma and general pediatric orthopaedics. His aim is to ensure that all the children under my medical care are able to participate in a physically active lifestyle, because the benefits of a healthy musculoskeletal system translate into overall physical and emotional health. 

In addition, he is clinically active in hip preservation through arthroscopy and reconstruction/osteotomy, and has a special interest in idiopathic and neuromuscular scoliosis as well.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Doak graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from the University of Florida, and his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the University at Buffalo, where he was Chief Resident.

Upon completing his residency, he joined the US Navy Medical Corps, where he was part of the orthopedic surgery staff at Naval Hospital Pensacola. He was also the Resident Education Coordinator within the Department of Orthopedics, Aeronautical Medicine Orthopedic Education Coordinator, and Command Fitness Leader at Naval Hospital Pensacola, and Radiation Safety Officer / Narcotics Officer at the Forward Operating Base in Afghanistan. Later, he completed his fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Brown University.

As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

As for his academic appointment, Dr. Doak serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He trains medical students and orthopedics residents with an emphasis on collaborative thinking and discussion. He also welcomes residents interested in pediatric orthopedics to conduct research with him.

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, spine diseases, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

Among his various accolades, Dr. Doak has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2015), and On-Time Doctor Award (2015).
