Dr. Cotliar is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology (ABO). The ABO is an independent, nonprofit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists (eye physicians and surgeons) in the United States. The organization certifies ophthalmologists who have completed an accredited ophthalmic residency training program and demonstrated the required level of knowledge, skills, and experience in ophthalmology.

Dr. Cotliar is a fellowship trained glaucoma surgeon. He specializes in both manual and laser-assisted cataract surgery, refractive surgery, such as LASIK AND PRK, and in premium IOL technology for cataract surgery (the type of IOL implanted will make a difference in a patient’s ability to see after surgery). Furthermore, he is certified in all of the MIGS (Minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries), including iStent, ECP, and trabectome, which are effective surgeries for mild-to-moderate glaucoma.

Dr. Cotliar completed his medical school training at Albany Medical College in 2008. He then completed his 3-year ophthalmology residency at the Montefiore Medical Center of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2012, followed by a year of training in glaucoma eye surgery at the prestigious University of California at Irvine.

Dr. Cotliar is fluent in Spanish.
