Dr, Mendiolaza offers his high level of cardiovascular care all over the United States as he holds 27 licenses throughout our nation, and he is currently at the prestigious Heart and Vascular Institute at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, MD, where he is providing his concierge cardiology expertise. Dr. Mendiolaza specializes in all noninvasive and invasive cardiovascular clinical diseases/procedures, cardiovascular clinical management and prevention, all cardiovascular imaging modalities, and all clinical cardiovascular care.

Boasting an illustrious career marked by academic brilliance, Dr. Mendiolaza graduated with his Medical Degree from Federico Villarreal National University School of Medicine in Lima, Peru in 1994 as the Valedictorian of his class with numerous awards such as the prestigious “Dean Award for Excellence in Medicine”. Immediately upon such, he then quickly relocated to the United States, where he was accepted as a postgraduate research fellow at the world-renowned prestigious Cardiovascular Research Institute at The University of California in San Francisco CA ( UCSF) to then continue further training at the Stanford Patient Education Research Center Stanford University School of Medicine, CA, Division of Cardiovascular Disease. He then continued to pursue further training at the NIH ( National Heart and Blood Institute) Division of Cardiology in Bethesda, MD ( under Dr Anthony Faucci and Dr. Cannon)) and then training in public health in a combined resident training program in conjunction with the National Hispanic Medical Association and the Commonwealth Foundation in Minority Health Care, Harvard University School of Medicine, Division of Public Health, Harvard University, School of Medicine, in DC.

He then went to continue further clinical training doing his internship in internal medicine at the  University of Illinois,  at Chicago (University of Illinois, School of Medicine)  Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center from 2001-2002.

His insatiable thirst for knowledge led him to pursue further specialization, completing his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Rutgers New Jersey University, School of Medicine, Division of Internal Medicine and Division of Cardiology between 2004 and 2007, respectively. 

He has recently been re-certified as a level III in Cardiac Computed Tomography, which is the maximum level of expertise given in the US and all over the world. He holds numerous board certifications, awards, publications, and honors as well as providing public speaking within and outside the country.

He and his concierge practice covers almost 27 states of the nation and his home-based practice is located in the “sunny” Naples, Florida. 

He has been trained and board certified in structural heart disease and cardiac imaging using all modalities ( from Cardiac CTA,–Cardiac Computed Tomography, Cardiac MRI, Cardiac Magnetic Resonance, 3 D echo —which entails three-dimensional echocardiography, and 3 D Echo TEE, (trans-esophageal echocardiography)  adding features such STRAIN  echocardiography and mechanical dispersion, he too, uses Cardiac Nuclear Medicine ( the latter for diagnosis of Coronary Artery Disease), and Cardiac PET scan. ALL OF THESE IMAGING TECHNIQUES ARE PERFORMED to be utilized in approaches without open heart surgery such as Transcutaneous Aortic Valve Replacement known as TAVR, for mitral valve repair or replacement known as TEER ( MITRA CLIPS)  as well as  the TRICUSPID VALVES, PULMONARY VALVES  plus for CLOSURE OF LEFT ATRIAL APPENDAGE,  called LAAO for patients with an arrhythmia known as atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeats and leading to strokes) as well as PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale ) or ASD (Atrial Septal Defect) which are congenital heart defects (“literally” a hole in the heart)

In addition, he uses ICE which encompasses Intra Coronary Echocardiography–moreover, he performs all vascular and peripheral procedures where he uses DSA–Digital Subtraction Angiography for brain aneurysms. He is also now using the novelty  F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography with computed tomography (18F-FDG-PET/CT) for infective endocarditis
