Dr. Shen is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Dr. Shen earned his medical degree from Weill Cornell University Medical College. He then went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, followed by his fellowship in spine surgery at the University of California at San Francisco. Dr. Shen is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also a founding member of the International Society of Endoscopic Spine Surgery, as well as a member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and the North American Spine Society.
Dr. Shen is very active in clinical research. He has presented papers at the III World Congress of Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Techniques in 2012, SMISS Annual Meeting in 2012 and 2013, and the Annual Meeting of the Minimally Invasive Neurological Society in 2013.
